The Estate

The centenary linden tree that gave the estate its name

The land is shaped into consolidated level platforms with dry stone walls, divided into plots sheltered by the tall hedges typical of the Azores. In the middle of the central platform stands a large linden tree, alongside which the house is set, positioned to make the most of the spaciousness and the shade of the tree - which acts as a giant parasol - and of the view towards the coast, to the northeast. Before becoming a home, it was used to store honey from the estate's apiary.

A complete remodelling of the house was recently completed, with a project of fine architectural quality - original and enhancing of the property and the place in which it sits, establishing with them an intrinsic relationship of complementarity and interdependence. With a single-storey height, the aim was to evoke tradition in its form and linear layout, while asserting contemporaneity through the use of materials and through monochromy.
